Bill Targets Deschutes County Marijuana System Development Charges

Governor Kate Brown is expected to sign a bill that would prohibit Deschutes County from imposing system development charges on marijuana growing operations on land that is zoned for farm use.

Senate bill 365 passed the house with a vote of 40 for and 19 against yesterday.

The charges imposed by Deschutes County help pay for road projects including repairs from overuse or expansion of roads as the county continues to grow.

The county road department usually gets a million dollars annually from marijuana system development charges.
