A Bend woman was rescued Sunday after a fall while fatbiking near Tumalo Falls.
Deschutes County Search and Rescue received a 911 call just after 11 a.m. advising a bicyclist, 60-year-old Patricia Mullen, had fallen and injured herself while crossing a footbridge near the Tumalo Creek Trail and South Fork Trail. She was carrying her fatbike at the time, according to Deputy Aaron Myers.
She suffered non life-threatening injuries, but was unable to make her way back to the trailhead, Myers said.
About 12:45 p.m., a SAR volunteer made contact with Mullen. Seven more volunteers rode about 2.5 miles on snowmobiles and hiked a half mile to reach her around 1:30 p.m. The team used an ambu-sled to take Mullen to the trailhead when she was then taken to St. Charles in Bend for further evaluation.
