▶️ Bend Parks and Rec winter/spring recreation program registration opens Dec. 9

With the New Year around the corner, Bend Park and Recreation District is opening registration for winter and spring recreation programs beginning Monday, Dec. 9 at 5:30 a.m.

Winter and spring programs run from January through May and include youth and adult activities, afterschool care, fitness, swimming, ice, sports and outdoor recreation.

And many of the programs fill up quickly – as in minutes after the registration opens.

“For the winter season, we typically have very fast registration for all of our ice programs: Hockey, curling, skating. In past seasons, some of those programs have filled up in the first hour of being available,” said Julie Brown, Bend Parks and Recreation community relations manager. “So if those programs are important to you or your family, I certainly recommend getting up early Monday morning.”

To ensure a successful registration, Brown recommends setting up an online account with Bend Parks & Recreation before Dec. 9th.

For those who already have an account, Brown says it’s a good idea to check your ID and password are current and active.

Shirley Kitchell and her family are planning to register for at least eight winter and spring recreation programs. She says the trick is to fill up your shopping cart on the Bend Parks & Recreation website the night before registration begins.

“Just get everything in your cart. Your cart is going to look insane because it just takes a long time to read all the activity numbers, the times and how long the programs run,” she said. “Make sure it fits with your schedule. That way you wake up and it just takes 5 minutes. You press ‘register’ and you get a nice big sheet and you’re good to go.”

Registration will be available at https://register.bendparksandrec.org or in person at the Juniper Swim & Fitness Center, Bend Senior Center, District Office and The Pavilion during regular business hours.

Program descriptions and schedules are available now for preview. The printed Playbook will arrive in mailboxes and copies will be available in facilities in late December.
