Police: Bend men arrested after high-centering stolen dump truck

Two Bend men were arrested early Sunday after they were found in a stolen dump truck, according to police.

Lt. Juli McConkey said officers were called to NW Regency and NW College way just before 1 a.m. Sunday where a caller reported seeing a dump truck high centered.

When officers arrived they found 36-year-old Daniel Julio Mendez in the driver’s seat and 60-year-old Robert Kenneth Walker in the bed of the truck.

McConkey said officers learned the truck, owned by LETS Construction Cleaning Services, was last parked on NE 1st St. in Bend.

Mendez was taken to jail for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. While he was being booked into the jail, officers found meth on him.

Walker was arrested by citation for failure to register as a sex offender.
