A Bend man wanted for multiple thefts was arrested Thursday after a foot chase near the Bend-La Pine Schools bus yard on 3rd street.
The incident started around 11 a..m. when officers tried to contact 24-year-old Taylor Steven Connelly at a house on Southeast Yew Avenue about multiple thefts he was involved in as well as an arrest warrant for a parole violation.
Lt. Juli McConkey said the officers had information he was in possession of a firearm and he made a prior threat that he would point firearms at officers to avoid being arrested.
Once the officers contacted him, he ran across SE 3rd Street toward the Bend-La Pine bus yard. The officers deployed a flash bang at the ground to stop him, but he kept running away from the officers into a fenced area.
Connelly was ultimately captured by Ronny, a K9 unit. Police say he suffered non-life threatening injuries when Ronny bit him. Connelly will be taken to the Deschutes County Jail after he’s released from St. Charles where he’s being treated for his injuries.
Connelly was charged with multiple crimes including criminal trespass, possession of meth, heroine and steroids, six counts of identity theft, and four counts of possession of a forged instrument.
