Bend man arrested on child porn charges after 10-month investigation

A Bend man was arrested Monday on child porn charges after a 10-month investigation, according to police.

The investigation started in early January when Bend Police received a tip from two federal agencies in regards to child porn. The tip identified one specific image that was accessed by someone within city limits.

Detectives investigated the tip over several months and identified 51-year-old Bradley Vernon Well as the person suspected of accessing the image.

Investigations Lt. Adam Juhnke said detectives served a search warrant at Well’s home and place of employment in late April. During the search of the home, multiple digital devices were seized for further analysis, Juhnke said.

Later, Bend Police Forensic Detectives examined the devices and found numerous images depicting child porn.

On Monday, Well was arrested and taken to the Deschutes County Jail on 10 counts of second-degree encouraging child sexual abuse.

The initial tips came from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

The Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force Program is a national network of 61 coordinated task forces representing over 4,500 federal, state, and local law enforcement and prosecutorial agencies. These agencies are continually engaged in proactive and reactive investigations and prosecutions of persons involved in child abuse and exploitation involving the Internet.*
