Gas leak in NE Bend after contractor hits gas main, fire department says

A gas leak reportedly caused by a contractor conducting drilling operations, caused traffic disruptions in northeast Bend Wednesday.

It happened around 10:30 a.m. at NE 10th Street and Greenwood Avenue. 

Bend Fire and Rescue said a contractor for Pacific Power struck a 2-inch gas main while conducting drilling operations. Crews from Cascade Natural Gas were conducting repairs.

Bend Police and the Oregon Department of Transportation were managing traffic on Greenwood between 8th and 15th streets.

Gas service interruptions were expected the immediate area. Repairs and traffic controls were expected to last up to three hours.
