Every year, millions of people across the world celebrate Oktoberfest with music…performances…and, of course, beer.
But did you know that the very first Oktoberfest took place 200 years ago to celebrate the royal wedding between Prince Ludwig of Bavaria…and Princess Theresse of Saxony.
Today, the Sierra Nevada brewing co. Is continuing the wedding tradition by holding a “royal wedding” competition.
Engaged couples have submitted short videos for the chance to win an all expenses paid wedding at the company’s Oktoberfest in California next month.
Among the entries is a hopeful Bend couple.
The future Mr. and Mrs. found out about the Sierra Nevada competition through social media and submitted a video they hope is worthy of the grand prize.
Frankie and Jason are up against several other couples to make it into the top five.
Those top five videos will then go before a panelist of judges before a winner is announced on Tuesday.
What would it mean to the couple?
“It would mean that we could use the money to save for a down payment on a house and we could celebrate with our friends a lot quicker than potentially otherwise – and celebrate our love in style,” Frankie said.
Jason added, “yeah i think I mean anybody that we’ve brought this up to would love to go to Sierra Nevada for a wedding. To have everything paid for would be incredible.”
