16 fires reported after Wednesday’s storm; all less than 1/2 acre

Crews are working 16 small wildfires sparked by lightning from Wednesday afternoon’s thunderstorms.

All are less than a half-acre, according to Central Oregon Fire Information.

“Strong winds anticipated (Thursday) which will fan any smoldering fires,” the agency said via Twitter.

Thursday morning, the agency said they were already pickup some new fires.

Firefighters will be using lightning maps to locate any potential fire starts as well as recon flights.
