Starved Prineville Horse Gets New Home

It’s a happy ending to a heartbreaking story. In March, the Crook County Sheriff’s department was called to a property in Prineville where three horses were showing signs of severe neglect. One of the horses died before a veterinarian arrived — the other two horses were taken to Equine Outreach Horse Rescue. Volunteers did their best, but only one horse survived and now, that horse is getting a second chance thanks to a loving family in Central Oregon. Mackenzie Wilson has their story.

To donate to Equine Outreach’s “Keep The Gates Open” campaign, visit www.equineoutreach.com their goal is to raise money to pay for the lease at the property, and pay for insurance and utility costs for 2016. Volunteers say if they don’t raise the money they will have to shut down the non-profit.
