Captain William Fugate Placed on Leave after Anonymous Tip

The Deschutes County Sheriffs office is looking into a criminal investigation of a prominent member of the Oregon State Police.
Central Oregon Daily’s Anyssa Bohanan has details on the investigation.

911 received an anonymous report of a criminal allegation relating to Captain William Fugate just before 8PM Tuesday night. The tip was enough to spur the Sheriffs office into initiating a criminal investigation and for the OSP Superintendent to place Fugate on administrative leave Wednesday.

The Sheriffs office is in the early stages of the investigation, but say it is not related to his employment or on-duty conduct and that they will respect Fugate’s rights as they gather the facts.
